A game changer remembered

We, the children of Late DR PIR MOHAMMAD V SHALLWANI, feel honored and grateful for the positive responses and appreciation on Book 1 of his selected letters to the editor published in 2018. It was composed of more than 100 letters he wrote to editors of different daily newspapers and periodicals in the 1980s.

Although he was a medical doctor, he had a keen eye on all kinds of social, medical and ethical issues he came across in daily life — penning them with the purpose of gaining attention of the concerned authorities and raising awareness among the general public for a better social environment and civilized living.

With pride and humility, we once again wish to share his second book of selected letters and some pages on his detailed biography depicting his life as a true game changer. It is based on observations and facts shared by our parents and extended family members. Anyone who met him once or twice in life would remember him and his words even now, long after him.

The biography reflects his childhood, student life, and professional and family life — full of struggle, commitment, conviction, and persistent beliefs. The issues he wrote about remain, more or less, the same even after more than 50 years, with diversity in their magnitude and intensity.
